Travelling to Tampere

Tampere is located 180 kilometres northwest from Helsinki and is easily accessible by air, bus or train.

By air to Finland

There are several daily flights to Finland from major cities in Europe. Good connections from North America and Asia are also available. There are frequent daily flights between Helsinki-Vantaa airport (HEL) and Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (TMP), the flight takes only 30 minutes.

There are also direct flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Tampere-Pirkkala Airport. Please note that the budget airline Ryanair also flies to Tampere-Pirkkala Airport from several European cities. For further information please visit Finnair, Ryanair, Blue1 and SAS.

Transport connections to/from Tampere-Pirkkala airport 

Tampere-Pirkkala airport is located about 15 km from the city centre. There is a special Airport Taxi, which can be ordered at the airport as well as at the hotel reception. There is also regular taxi and bus service from the airport to the centre of Tampere.

Public Transport Bus number 61 operates between the airport and Tampere. Bus number 21 operates between Rosendahl and Tampere city centre. See Tampere public transport timetables.

By train

Comfortable train service between Helsinki and Tampere city centres also exists.

From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport it is easy to take a bus to Helsinki city centre or Tikkurila railway station and board a train there. Trains depart hourly (except for night time), and the travel takes 1.5–2 hours. For further information please visit www.vr.fi.

By bus

An express bus is an easy way to reach Tampere from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport or the Helsinki city centre. Buses depart every 1-2 hours and the travel time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. For further information please visit www.expressbus.com or www.matkahuolto.fi.
